Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (Achievers) is New Jersey’s first public charter school designed to get students a STEM-focused associate's degree (or up to 60 college credits) by the time they finish high school. Achievers launched in the summer of 2018 with its first class of sixth graders, setting them with the unique and challenging opportunity to take a two-year course of study in STEM fields following the 10th grade. Achievers wants to redefine the middle school and high school experience, enabling students to graduate with skills, experiences, and content mastery that’s significant to them in the marketplace and the world beyond. Achieversecp is focused on developing a new-generation STEM program that equips students with the confidence, exposure, and depth of technical expertise to pursue and be successful in post-secondary STEM. To realize this vision, we are looking for a results-driven Mathematics Curriculum Developer to join our community.

The Mathematics Curriclum Director hold primary responsibility for the implementation and development of Achiever’s curriculum and the success of its students. Therefore, Achievers Early College Prep seeks middle school teachers who are committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level team. Teachers will have and be able to do the following:

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week to focus on curriculum development
  • Demonstrates a track record of expertise, knowledge and student achievement in Math 6th & 7th grade (NJ state & common core aligned) standards
  • Curate existing Math 6th & 7th grade (NJ state & common core aligned) curriculum and create original lessons centered around compelling, intervention-based strategies, which includes lesson materials for teachers, assessments, and culminating projects;
  • Own and improve existing processes that support the Mathematics team and faculty;
  • Support specific ad hoc writing projects and tasks related to other courses within the Mathematics Department.
  • Identify, prepare, and compile necessary materials to support the tasks of the Director.
  • Extensive knowledge of Mathematics interventions that specifically target math skills
  • Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
  • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • High degree of judgment, tact, and professionalism, as well as a profound respect for the confidentiality of documents and communications involving the organization;
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and data gathering skills and ability to manage multiple shifting priorities;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Ability to be proactive and work both independently and as part of a team, exercising a strong work ethic and commitment to completing work on a timely basis
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, and adaptability to changing needs and demands, and willingness to work longer hours as circumstances require.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours a week to focus on curriculum development
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in an upper elementary or middle school with an underserved population
  • Quantifiable track record of outstanding academic results
  • Valid State Certification is helpful but not required
