(2019-2020) 7th Grade (Project Lead The Way) Science Teacher
Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (Achievers) is New Jersey’s first public charter school designed to get students a STEM-focused associate's degree (or up to 60 college credits) by the time they finish high school. Achievers will launch in the summer of 2018 with its first class of sixth graders, setting them with the unique and challenging opportunity to take a two-year course of study in STEM fields following the 10th grade. Achievers wants to redefine the middle school and high school experience, enabling students to graduate with skills, experiences, and content mastery that’s significant to them in the marketplace and the world beyond.

Middle School Teachers hold primary responsibility for the implementation and development of Achiever’s curriculum and the success of its students. Therefore, Achievers Early College Prep seeks middle school teachers who are committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level team. Teachers will have and be able to do the following:
- Expert in content knowledge in middle school (grades 5-8) Mathematics and Science
- Attend Project Lead The Way (PLTW) training and receive certifications to teach our enhanced science curriculum in electronics, robotics and other STEM offerings
- Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards
- Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
- Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
- Collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
- Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior
- Will be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred; and
- Minimum of two years teaching experience in an upper elementary or middle school with an underserved population
- Quantifiable track record of outstanding academic results
- Valid State Certification is helpful but not required.
