Pay Rate: $25 Per Registered Student Job status: Part-time position About Achievers Early College Prep Charter School

Achievers Early College Preparatory School will be New Jersey’s first Science and Technology focused early college middle and high school with the mission to transform education for low-income Black and Latino students in Trenton, New jersey by offering a focused curriculum that will put students ahead in college and high-growth STEM careers. Beginning in the Summer of 2018, Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (Achievers ECP) will open its doors to its founding class of sixth grade students who will build confidence, leadership, and skills and interests in science, technology, mathematics, digital, arts and engineering and foster a love of learning through our standards-based educational model that promotes skillful personal mastery.


The community engagement associate functions as a mouthpiece for Achievers ECP, generating enrollment and facilitating the enrollment process. community engagement associates must form a deep knowledge of all Achievers ECP so they can teach families about the school and encourage them to enroll. The community engagement associate distribute information about all Achievers ECP through flyers, in person, and by phone. community engagement associates must be outgoing, willing to speak with and approach the public to talk about Achievers ECP, and have a unique ability to encourage new families to join Achievers ECP. The community engagement associate must to travel to Achievers ECP’s office at 247 East Front Street, as needed, must have reliable transportation, and must be willing to work some evening events and weekends from December through April 2018. There is potential for longer term and full-time opportunities with Achievers ECP at the conclusion of recruiting season, therefore fit and results will be the determining criteria.


Reporting to the founders, the community engagement associate’s main purpose is to engage prospective parents, secure interest and provide guidance and assistance to ensure families register before the April lottery. The community engagement associate will receive a target number of families to recruit, and will work to 1) identify interested families, 2) engage them, 3) convert that interest into applications, and 4) onboard families via registration support after the lottery in April.

  • Achieve assigned enrollment target before April lottery
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support Achievers ECP's mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of conduct
  • Understand charter schools; able to educate parents about what charter schools are and are not, dispelling charter school myths
  • Assist team through community outreach strategizing and execution
  1. Maintain a helpful attitude and give good customer service at all times
  2. Ability to walk community streets to hand-out fliers/talk to families
  3. Knock on doors, giving families information
  4. Approach parents outside stores/restaurants etc. giving them information about Achievers ECP and answering questions
  5. Form relationships with local businesses and educate owners about Achievers ECP
  6. Visit local businesses and leave fliers
  7. Actively find and participate in fairs and community events
  8. Make presentations at preschools, private and elementary schools, and places where families meet
  9. Make calls and receive calls to and from interested families
  10. Participate in work-related training and conferences
  11. Use appropriate language and respect others at all times
  12. Timely delivery of forms to founders
  13. Use time efficiently
  14. Maintain reliable transportation (i.e., ability to travel from one school site to another, as needed)
  15. Dress appropriately when recruiting or attending events
  16. Use equipment and materials provided only by Achievers ECP to recruit
  17. Employ additional recruitment strategies
  18. Other duties as assigned by the school’s founders
  • Confer with school’s founders to develop and implement strategies to improve enrollment
  • Accurately and timely communicate enrollment status to supervisor and school-site
  • Maintain and improve professional competence and participate in professional development opportunities
  • Actively participate in team meetings
  • Assist with school/organizational events, as needed

Required Licenses and Certificates:

  • Up-to-date background check required at time of hire (we will communicate the provider’s information to the contactor)

This work is performed utilizing your contacts, your knowledge of community and family functions to identify prospective students and families.

Work may also be performed outdoors (i.e. passing out flyers and door hangers) in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, dust, wind, etc.). The contractor accepts these risks, and must be able to lift marketing materials and flyers (upt to 40 lbs) if needed.

Contract Employment At-Will:
This role is contract employment. The contractor is not an employee of Achievers ECP. However, success could translate into a long term, full-time role with Achievers ECP.
